Why Re-think?
Its purpose is to come to an understanding and to be understanding. My writings may start out as one point-of-view but morph into something totally different by the end of the piece. I trust the process. I trust that I will learn what I need to learn from the journey.
What brought me to this conclusion? Years ago after seeing the movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know?", I had a conversation with a fellow movie-goer, who was a stranger to me. During our conversation, I remember saying to him something like, "We only know the color blue is blue because we've been told that's what it is. But, how do you know if I'm seeing the same color blue as you are?"
That's why this section exists. It's not to stir up controversy, be divisive, or support a particular ideology. It's a challenge to my own beliefs and experiences; challenging why I believe as I do or feel as I do. It forces me to not look at issues in "sound bites", but explore them. It forces me to take a long, hard look at what I believe and why. But most importantly, it forces me to take a long, hard look at what others believe and truly listen. And if even one person reads something that I've written and is challenged to truly listen to someone else's perspective and to truly challenge themselves too, then I see this as a boon for humanity.
Dig deeper. Re-think.
Why? Because in reality, it's never us versus them. It's just us and all of humanity is in this together.
